About Us
Beamups connects international buyers and sellers of professional content and generates new revenue by breaking down the traditional barriers in news distribution.
Beamups offers a dynamic solution: newsrooms get access to news from professional journalists around the world; professional content gets global distribution. It’s win-win for everyone.
How does it work?
Buyers can search online for free – no subscription fee – and buy news footage from an array of professional providers across the globe. The news on Beamups is available to buy per item, at a sliding scale of prices and rights (from exclusive to non-exclusive).

Content providers worldwide can upload, package and price their content to sell internationally on the Beamups site.
What’s happened so far?
Beamups launched its Beta site in April 2009 in the Middle East – you may have heard of it, it features in the news quite regularly – and swiftly registered all the major broadcasters and bureaux in the region, including BBC, Sky, ABC News, Ramattan Palestinian News Agency, and Israel’s Channel 2. Beamups launched in the UK in June 2009 and is now offering a fully-operational platform for buying and selling news.
So why are we doing this?
Newsroom budgets may be shrinking faster than a polar ice cap, but how many times have you shot something and then seen it sold around the world, without your income increasing accordingly? Or shot a great story that deserved a wider audience but never saw the light of day because it didn’t meet the prescribed agenda?
Two experienced news/documentary cameramen, Boaz Eshtai and Yosi Romano, were fully aware of these situations, which is why they created Beamups. Their dream was for buyers to purchase news items from around the world with a click of their mouse. And producers of content could retain copyright for their work, giving them the opportunity to boost revenues through multiple sales. Beamups is the fruit of their labour.
